Valerie Milner finds a place for herself managing the office at Stephens Construction, and the three brothers who are her bosses. She even considers them her family. Except things are changing. Her feelings for one of the them is becoming decidedly un-friend-like. She's gone down that road before, and she refuses to lose another friendship because sex, and emotions, get in the way.

It is becoming more difficult for Andrew Stephens to keep his feelings hidden from Val. Not only is she his best friend, but he is also her boss. The whole thing has bad idea written all over it. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop the late-night fantasies and dreams that plague him during the day. When he finally gets up the nerve to make his move, Val dances away from him. He isn't a man to give up when the payoff will be out of this world for both of them.

All bets are off, though, when Val finds herself in danger and the target of violence. Drew isn't going to let anything happen to her, and if she falls into his arms, all the better. Amid all the craziness, Valerie and Drew grow closer in a much different way than before. But what happens when danger invades from all angles?
